Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

Why do people go to therapy? It is a good question.

Therapy can be emotionally difficult. In therapy, we may be asked to look at issues in our lives that we sometimes would prefer to avoid. It may be a challenging process, and change doesn’t come overnight.

Often, the reason we go to therapy is that we are in emotional pain. These painful feelings can be caused by a lack of understanding about why we make the choices that we do. A lack of balance may lead us to feel that our lives are out of control. Or, our emotional distress may be caused by a great loss: of someone we love, of a marriage, of our identity or sense of purpose, or even the loss of our youth.

What we look for in therapy is to be in control of ourselves again. We want an understanding of what has brought us to this pain and a sense of how to feel better. These desires not only apply to individuals, but also families and couples.

To this end, WCPA provides:

  • Individual therapy for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors
  • Family therapy
  • Couples counseling
  • Relationship and divorce counseling
  • Therapy for seniors and their loved ones and caregivers
  • Group counseling for anxiety, social skills, and grief/loss
